Application procedures

EMMIR has a two-tier application process. Your application consists of an online application (1) and a paper version (2).

1. Online application

In order to facilitate the application process, EMMIR uses the management platform eConsort. Only after registering with your name, email address you will be able to access the online application form.

Please follow this link to register for application

The application form must be completed online by filling in all the indicated boxes IN ENGLISH; you will be able to complete it bit by bit and return to continue at a later time (following this link); all data will be saved to our database. For reasons beyond our control, our email accounts have not been working with email providers Outlook and Hotmail. Please use alternative email providers (i.e. Gmail).

Please make sure that all personal information corresponds to the attached documents and certificates which should be all uploaded as PDF documents only. As soon as you filled-in at least the obligatory boxes you will be able to submit the form.

2. Paper version

Upon submission, you will receive a summary of all your application details automatically generated by the application system. This confirmation has to be printed out, dated and signed, and attached to the paper version of your applications including all the documentation required (see below). Please note that your application package has to arrive at the EMMIR Coordinator within the given deadline.

The application process is only completed once the paper version of your application has arrived at the University of Oldenburg.

Documentation

The full paper version of your application consists of the following:

  • SIGNED and dated print out of the application form attached to the automatic confirmation email.
  • Copy of a valid passport
  • Print out of CV
  • Statement of Purpose, clarifying your motivation to study the course (1 to 2 pages max.)
  • First university degree or transcript and other relevant degrees (certified true copies)*.
  • Documentation of language proficiency (certified true copies or originals; in case of IELTS: copy showing test id)
  • Other relevant documentation and references

All documents must be submitted in English. Documents which are not originally in English must be accompanied by an authorised translation of the original. Please note that only the transcript and the diploma, when in German, are accepted in this language.

If you apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship you are expected to provide documentation of a finalised first degree by the deadline in December. A preliminary transcript stating that you finalised the degree is accepted. A final degree has to be presented by the time of enrolment.

We urge you not to use plastic folders to combine your documents. For sending your application package we strongly advise to use a service that allows you to track the delivery in order to make sure that we receive it within the deadline.

*The authorities that provide certified true copies vary from country to country. It is important that you inform yourself on who does it and where is this procedure taken care of in your country. The stamps given by the relevant authorities also differ. Hereby we attach an example (only for explanatory purposes) of what this document can look like:

Certified true copies

University degrees and transcripts must be sent either as originals or as certified true copies. An official stamp with date and signature is required. In general, attestation by the local embassy, the police, a notary public or state or municipal administration agency is accepted. Failure to provide all the necessary documents disqualifies the applicant and the application will not be registered.

As we are not able to return your documents, we recommend you to send certified true copies instead of originals.
